Tacony LAB Community Art Center celebrated its Northeast 250: Threads of History project during a July 5 event at Glen Foerd.
In all, the project consisted of eight artists who created 32 flags during 20 events at 15 different locations, with the help of 18 partners.
All of the flags that were created throughout the series were on display.
The afternoon also included a variety of make-and-take crafts as well as artist vendors, food trucks, historical organizations and a VIP speaking portion that featured City Councilman Mike Driscoll, state Rep. Pat Gallagher, state Sen. Joe Picozzi and Jane Golden, the retiring executive director of Mural Arts Philadelphia.
Golden introduced the flag artists, who led craft activities as part of the series at historic locations such as the Historical Society of Frankford, Ryerss Museum & Library, Tacony Historical Society, Pennepack Baptist Church, Trinity Church Oxford and Glen Foerd.
Also on hand was Bob Dix, designer of the Nature to Industry to Nature Again bell that was part of Bells Across PA and is in place at Glen Foerd.
