Learn candle and perfume making

Loomen Labs, a BYOB scent and floral bar in Queen Village, is celebrating its third anniversary with a meet-and-greet event and new seasonal fragrances.

On Sept. 18, the shop at 620 S. 5th St. will be open from 4-7 p.m. for visitors to speak with founder and CEO Jordan Lee Cook to learn about the company and its sustainability efforts. Guests can also leave with a sample fragrance.

For the past three years, Cook has enjoyed teaching guests how to create their own scents through candle-making and perfume-making. Her passion for creating unique fragrances was sparked after a failed DIY project for Mother’s Day.

“I wanted to gift my mom a handmade candle, but it was a complete mess. I didn’t have the proper ingredients or tools,” Cook said. “From there, I took it upon myself to become an expert on all things fragrance and provide others with the resources they need to craft their own candles and perfumes.”

After opening Loomen Labs in 2021, Jordan expanded her business by adding bouquet-making to her list of offerings. Guests can also make their own planter.
