The community celebrated Bustleton resident Tom James during the 7th District Police Service Area (PSA) 2 December meeting. James served his last meeting as coordinator for the monthly gathering.

Neighbors gave James a commemorative plaque thanking him with his unofficial title of “The Mayor of Krewstown.” During a brief speech, James explained that the moniker was given to him by then-Mayor Frank Rizzo at a luncheon at Tiffany Diner. Other neighbors provided a cake, pastries from Holmesburg Bakery and a card expressing their gratitude.

Bob Stewart will take over the coordinator duties for the monthly meetings.

“I have big shoes to fill,” said Stewart in accepting the new role. He jokingly added, “I don’t know if I can get Mayor Parker to name me Mayor of Bustleton.”

This year the group will meet every third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at American Heritage Credit Union, 2068 Red Lion Road.

The PSA meetings are where residents can get hyperlocal updates on crime and police initiatives. ••
