Trump and his voters better not fail America

To all the Trump supporters: Congratulations on your candidate’s historic win. I hope for a better future for America and I hope that America can continue to be that shining city on the hill, and I hope your candidate can deliver that. Currently, gas prices are about $3 a gallon and the Dow Jones is about around 42,000, which is 14,000 more than 4 years ago when Biden was elected. While the rest of the world’s economies languish in recession, the US economy is booming, just like it was when Obama left office. Once again, Trump will be gifted an incredible economy. You, like him, are now responsible for what comes next. You elected Trump so that he would “fix it all.” Please keep in mind that you elected a convicted felon, an adjudicated rapist and a pathological liar as America’s next leader. Trump called America a “garbage can.”

What comes next is completely of your own making and completely on your shoulders and his shoulders. Accepting the burden of leadership includes accepting responsibility for everything that happens while you are in charge; true leaders know this. They do not whine or complain about their burden. For four years, the rest of us listened to you complain and bellyache about everything – nothing was good enough for you, but now you have what you wanted, so you shall no longer complain about what comes next because you chose it. It will be everything you wanted. I hope you have not forfeited the America we inherited to fascism and authoritarianism. You have been given every warning possible about what a second Trump term might mean. There just are no excuses you can make. From this point forward, you and Trump will be held responsible for what happens to America and its citizens. The rest of us will not accept your excuses. Please do not point fingers. Do not complain. You got what you wanted. You and your candidate dare not fail America.

Thank you for beautifying the area

In gratitude and appreciation for the retired veteran men (I think 3) who regularly clean up the 8600 block of Bloomfield by removing trash and debris from Verree to Millwood. Additionally, they fill the parkside bird feeders and update seasonally the memorial at Millwood and Bloomfield. Right now there is a tasteful display of autumn decorations and American flags marking this space.

If it were not for these gentlemen, I can’t imagine how much trash would build up and how different it would look with all the traffic and trash that is tossed from car windows and passersby. Thank you for your continuing and much-appreciated service to the 8600 block of Bloomfield. You see (or you don’t see) them out there making a difference, caring for and beautifying our lil’ corner of the world. It does not go unnoticed by some of your neighbors. Thank you

No conspiracy theories in ’24

I recently found a copy I had saved of the Northeast Times from Jan. 6, 2021. I am wondering if Al Ulus feels the same about his statement in that issue: “With all this new technology and especially the new digital voting machines that were used in this election, there could be a suspicion of fraud involved when the servers can be compromised.” Since Trump was elected, do you still feel this way? Is Dominion, who was found not to be at fault for any issues with their voting machines, still on your radar?

I agree there can be fraud, but it has been shown in such small numbers, it is an amount that is reasonable to believe given the large amount of voters.

I chuckled reading, “So what’s the point of us going out and voting if the opposition is just going to sneak their candidates in?” Mr. Ulus, should I be concerned that Trump got in this time? Perhaps I should be writing a different opinion here, and cry foul. Or, maybe I missed your apology that you had been mistaken with the last election conspiracy theories. I am assuming you are perfectly content with the results this time.

It’s funny how when Trump lost last time, he felt it was all rigged, and his supporters believed that. Before this election, he was already claiming it was rigged. I guess the Dems were not able to succeed this time. Boy, they really must stink at this. Or, should we be concerned that the Republicans learned their tricks and it was rigged this time? Who knows what to think?

Maybe it was meant to be I had that old copy of the Times.

Look at labels

As all of us involved with the Buy American Made Campaign have seen that helping one another continues to pay off. Today, tens of millions of Americans are directing more of their spending power on items made and assembled in the United States of America.

For a long time, we saw foreign merchandisers expanding their product lines in stores throughout the United States. In the last 10 years we saw more American businesses and merchandisers working to get more American-made items back in circulation in local, regional and national stores.

Business owners tell customers that American-made items are moving off store shelves at a good pace, and they have seen more American-made items offered from their suppliers. The bottom line is every business wants to feature the products their customers are requesting in order to remain in business, make a profit and keep people employed.

It is very important to take a few extra minutes to look at labels and seek out items made by American workers. It is also important for customers to encourage store owners and workers to seek out additional American-made products from their suppliers. With all of us working together, progress continues to be made.

Since 2012, we have been promoting National Small Business Weekend, the first Friday, Saturday and Sunday of every month. This is another opportunity for each of us to let local businesses know you support them because they add to the well-being of your local community. It is also an opportunity to encourage them to sell more products made and assembled by American workers. Spread the word and invite others to visit NationalSmallBusinessWeekend.com.

Your comments and suggestions are always welcome. Email them to Michael@AmericanWorkersRadio.com.
