The event is usually hosted at Russo Park, but renovations – including a multi-purpose turf field for St. Hubert – will be underway.

There will be giveaways, including bookbags with school supplies, along with free haircuts, live entertainment by the Greater Kensington String Band and appearances by small business vendors, food vendors, food trucks, city agencies and local organizations.

There will be a ceremony at 4:30 p.m. to retire the playground’s tattered American flag and raise a new one, provided by state Rep. Jared Solomon. Mayor Cherelle Parker will be in attendance. A representative from American Legion William D. Oxley Post 133 and a U.S. Air Force Officer will be present to perform the ceremony. ••
