The Holmesburg Civic Association last week unanimously approved two zoning cases.
In the first case, attorney Richard DeMarco represented Morris Iron & Steel, which is seeking to legalize a large lot at 7777 State Road for overnight truck parking, with 24-hour security. The civic association has favored off-street parking for trucks since a fiery 2015 accident on the 8100 block of Torresdale Ave. killed three women whose car crashed into a parked tractor trailer. The Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting is Feb. 26.
In the second case, the owner of a house at 4210 Teesdale St. wants to complete a greenhouse on his front yard. The man grows vegetables and shares them with neighbors. Neighbors favor the project.
In other news from the Feb. 11 meeting:
• Among those in attendance were Stan Cywinski and Elijah Wilson, aides to City Councilman Mike Driscoll and state Sen. Joe Picozzi, respectively.
• The Star Players, of the city Department of Parks and Recreation, will present Honk! The Ugly Duckling Musical on May 30-31 and June 1, at 7 p.m., at Venice Island Performing Arts Center, 7 Lock St., in Manayunk. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Group rates are available.
