The Burholme Civic Association weighed two zoning cases at its recent meeting, opposing one and supporting the other.

In the first case, a property owner is seeking to legalize a duplex at 1328 Faunce St., bought in 2022 for $330,000.

The owner noted that, when he bought the property, it was listed as a duplex.

The owner and his attorney also said there were other duplexes on the block, but a resident of the street said he lives in a single family home and that the other properties listed as duplexes are owner occupied.

In the end, members voted 5-0 against the proposal, with three abstentions.

In the second case, Pastor Timothy Baldwin explained that Bethel Deliverance Church is seeking to expand to a third space in Dungan Plaza, a strip center at 7770 Dungan Road. Members voted in favor, 8-0.

Attending the meeting were state Rep.-elect Sean Dougherty and representatives from the offices of City Councilmen Brian O’Neill and Anthony Phillips.

Dougherty, who’ll be sworn into office on Jan. 7, will take over outgoing Rep. Kevin Boyle’s office at 7801-A Hasbrook Ave. Dougherty mentioned that there is a proposed 6-story storage facility planned for 7801-43 Oxford Ave. The issue will be discussed at the Jan. 8 meeting of the Fox Chase Town Watch and Civic Association. ••
