Dozens of volunteers for the nonprofit Gift of Giving, formerly known as Angels of Christmas, gathered recently at St. Dominic’s Marian Hall to prepare 3,024 meals for Caring for Friends.

The group has been doing good deeds since 1995.

Volunteers included members of the Three 6 Nine Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club and some freshmen from Father Judge.

Twice each year, on the Saturday before Easter and Thanksgiving, Gift of Giving buys food to make meals for Caring for Friends.

This time, the meals consisted of cooked breaded chicken breast, mixed vegetables, sliced apples and green beans.

The meals were packed in boxes and loaded onto a Caring for Friends truck for freezing and, ultimately, distribution to needy senior citizens and disabled people. ••
