On Sept. 14, the Travis Manion Foundation, one of the nation’s leading veteran service organizations, hosted its annual 9/11 Heroes Run at Russell E Elliot Memorial Park in Feasterville.

Sponsored nationally by USAA, the race series unites the nation to remember the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and in the wars since, while honoring veterans, military service members and first responders who serve our country and communities.

Now in its 70th year, the 9/11 Heroes Run took place in more than 90 locations, both in-person and virtually. Through the Travis Manion Foundation’s 9/11 Heroes Run, communities come together to run, walk or ruck to honor the fallen and carry on the legacies of character, leadership and service that they left behind. At its heart, the 9/11 Heroes Run is a personal commitment to never forget the heroes of that day.

The Travis Manion Foundation was formed in memory of 1st Lt. Travis Manion (USMC), who, in 2007, was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, his legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment: “If not me, then who?” Guided by this mantra, veterans and families of the fallen are empowered to become leaders in their communities, develop strong relationships and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Visit travismanion.org for more information.
