April 10

“Revolution, The Game” – at the Museum of the American Revolution, the day camp will be structured like a Live Action Roleplay Game, where kids can create their own character to play as and navigate the Revolutionary War as a Continental soldier, a British soldier – or even a spy. Using resources from the Museum, along with maps, replica objects, missions, puzzles and more, participants will explore how their choices could affect the outcome of the game – and history itself. The full day, drop off/pick up camp is tailor-made for kids ages 7-12. History Explorer Day Camps are $85 per student, per day for general admission and $75 per student, per day for Museum Members. Pours for PAWS – From 6-9 p.m. at Positano Coast, 212 Walnut St., 2nd Floor. Open to animal lovers of all ages, this event features a silent auction with goodies from local vendors, tasty apps (including vegan options), music by DJ Byrd Events and an open bar with select beer, wine and cocktails. Proceeds directly support PAWS’ mission of making Philadelphia a no-kill city where every healthy and treatable pet will find a home.

April 16

2024 Culinary Expo – From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field. Displays, demonstrations, giveaways and samples from over 80 world-class vendors. Vendors will include premier brands such as Sovena, Bridor, Baker’s Bacon, Monin, True Story, Nielsen Massey, Sparrow Lane Vineyards and Les Vergers Borion. French History Night – From 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Museum of the American Revolution, this happy hour soirée will be hosted by the museum’s Associate Curator of Exhibition Content and Research, James Taub, who will connect French history to the American Revolution in a special interactive presentation at 6 p.m. in the museum’s Cross Keys Café. Listen and learn while enjoying a special “French 1775” cocktail at a cash bar and exclusive evening access to the museum’s newest special exhibit, Witness to Revolution: The Unlikely Travels of Washington’s Tent. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for museum members, and can be purchased at amrevmuseum.org.

Swing into Spring – At the Anna C. Verna Playground at FDR Park, 9:30-11:30 a.m. Join Fairmount Park Conservancy and children’s music performers Two of a Kind for a free concert in the playground. Enjoy a music-filled morning along with kid-friendly giveaways and free water ice (while supplies last) from Dre’s Water Ice. Two of a Kind is David and Jenny Heitler-Klevans, an award-winning musical duo specializing in interactive music for children and families that gets audiences of all ages involved in the show, through singing, movement, sign language, lyrics-on-the-spot, puppets and more. TIMELESS: A Tribute to The Legacy of Peter Nero – At 3 p.m. at the Kimmel Center, a concert paying homage to the career and music of Peter Nero. The concert will be conducted by Carl Topilow with guest artist pianist George Burton, a Philadelphia native from Mt. Airy who graduated from CAPA and won a Peter Nero piano competition. They will join forces with The No Name Pops, the former musicians of The Philly Pops, to showcase Nero’s music. Tickets range in price from $51 to $121 and can be purchased at www.ensembleartsphilly.org.

April 23 

“Plants, Fabrics, and Dyes, Oh My!” – at the Museum of the American Revolution, the day camp will teach kids how early Americans used common plants to dye their garments vivid, beautiful colors. Kids will learn the science behind this process, record swatches, and learn how to extract pigment from plants like avocados, beets and cabbage before ultimately choosing their favorite swatch and dyeing their own T-shirt. The full-day, drop-off/pickup camp is for kids ages 7-12. History Explorer Day Camps are $85 per student, per day for general admission and $75 per student, per day for Museum members. Foreigners Journey – at 8 p.m. at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, a Foreigner and Journey tribute band, featuring American Idol star Constantine Maroulis, will play at The Event Center at Live! Sandy Sprint Philadelphia 5K Run/Walk – at 7 a.m. at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway). Participants can pre-register at https://secure.qgiv.com/event/ss2024. Runners and walkers are encouraged to create an online fundraising page to help spread the word about the Sandy Sprint and to reach their fundraising goals. Registration fees are $40 for adults and $30 for children under 12. Flavors on the Avenue – From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on East Passyunk Avenue from Broad Street to Dickinson. The city’s first block-buster food festival of the spring will feature five blocks of street food, seasonal sips, craft beer, live music, sidewalk sales and family fun. Over two-dozen award-winning restaurants, cafes and bars will bring their signature cuisine outside under the blue skies. Craft beer, signature cocktails and wine will pour from select restaurants outdoors. East Passyunk Flavors on the Avenue is open to all ages. Food and drink is pay-as-you-go.

Maifest Spring Festival – From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the 700 block of South Street, the 11th annual celebration with food, drinks, dancers and live music, no charge, and open to the public. Maifest has quickly become a beloved annual tradition of food, drinks and live music; with pay-as-you-go food and beer, and limited VIP Tickets. VIP Tickets include a flavorful appetizer buffet, served from noon until 6 p.m., along with access to private restrooms, a liter mug, six tokens good for a beer or food item each ($100 per person). Traditional German dancers will perform from 2 to 6 p.m., with live music from Heimatklänge from 1-6 p.m.

Beerathon 5K + Beer Fest – an event focused on combining exercise and celebrating Pennsylvania-based beer companies and beyond will take place at The Navy Yard.

Beerathon kicks off with a 5K run (or walk) where participants will earn a beer for each mile completed. After the race, patrons are invited to a beer fest with a list of curated beers, food trucks, live DJ and more on Marine Parade Grounds. The Beerathon does not require any physical activity or participation in the 5K. Beer Fest admission tickets are also available, separately. Choose your adventure: Beer Fest, 5K or both. TEDxDilworthPark – From noon to 3 p.m. at City Winery, 990 Filbert St. The event is open to the public. Tickets at www.tedxdilworthpark.com. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. Speakers are Nicole Bailey-Williams, Maybe Burke, Lauren Cristella, Lyndsey Getty, Adaeze Iloeje-Udeogalanya, Ssanyu Lukoma, Theo Major, Tina Nacrelli, David Sylvester, Michael Twinning, Brian Tucker and Najya Williams.

PlazaPalooza – From 1-7 p.m. at Triangle Park, 23rd and South streets. There will be live music all day, face painting and balloon animals, food trucks and the kiddie train. Igloo, Graces Tavern and shops on Grays Ferry Avenue will be open for business. And new this year, a market with 15 local vendors. Rain date May 19.

May 25-26

Bikeout – Cyclists are invited to experience a hassle-free overnight bike camping trip over the Memorial Day weekend on the next Bikeout group ride. Hosted by the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, promises a weekend of adventure and outdoor fun along Greater Philadelphia’s Circuit Trails network. Riders will gather near the art museum and travel about 38 miles along the Schuylkill River and the Perkiomen Creek before spending the night at Camp Kweebec and riding back to Center City the following day. Staff will transport all gear, leaving participants free to enjoy the ride with guidance from Bikeout volunteers and mechanical support from Keystone Bicycle Co.
