Craft Night Out: Straw Julbock Ornament – From 6-8 p.m. at the American Swedish Historical Museum. Celebrate St. Lucia Day and try your hand at making a traditional straw Julbock ornament. Kirsten Hansen Gyllenhaal will lead you through each step of the process. Red ribbon will be provided to further decorate your Julbock once it has finished drying at home. No previous experience is necessary, but the project involves a moderate level of difficulty. The evening includes a holiday-themed tour, craft workshop, traditional Glögg and Lussekatter (St. Lucia saffron buns) and treats. $40 for members, $50 for nonmembers. Space is limited.

Toddler Time: December in Sweden – from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the American Swedish Historical Museum. Join us this month and see the Museum decked out in its holiday splendor. Toddlers and families will get into the spirit by learning about fun Swedish holiday traditions such as St. Lucia Day, Pepparkakor and Jultomte. Participants will read Lucia Morning in Sweden by Ewa Rydåker and experience this special Swedish tradition.

Free admission for kids at Penn Museum – Kids under 17 get free admission Dec. 26-28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Penn Museum. All activities are included with Museum admission. Guests of all ages can make their own winter-themed suncatcher in the Asia Galleries, play an ancient board game like Mancala in the Sphinx Gallery, enjoy a “pop-up” talk about one artifact or participate in an interactive drumming workshop led by percussionist Joseph Tayoun. Each day at noon, visitors can stop by the Cookie Zone for a free treat while supplies last.
