‘Two-fer’ at Gloria Dei – At 6 p.m., the Historic Gloria Dei Preservation Corporation will hold two parties in one. HGDPC will celebrate 11 years of protecting Pennsylvania’s oldest church, and also unveil its free new Old Swedes’ Self-Guided Graveyard Tour App at a special launch party. Festivities will take place at Historic Gloria Dei (Old Swedes’) Church, the graveyard and Riverside Hall, 916 S. Swanson St. in Queen Village. Evening events include gourmet food, a wine-tasting contest, silent auction and demonstrations of the new app in the graveyard. Craft beer will also be available for purchase. Strange Woodcraft – From 5-8 p.m. at the Museum for Art and Wood, 141 N. 3rd St. On display in the gallery of the Museum’s Fleur and Charles Bresler Research Library, this exhibition includes work from 16 artists, held in the museum’s permanent collection, whose sculptural forms probe at the weird, eerie — and perhaps even grotesque — registers of wood. In doing so, Strange Woodcraft encourages visitors to consider the presence of more-than-human forces that may linger in crafted objects, just beyond common perception. Cost is free with a $5 suggested donation.

History on the Street – From noon to 4 p.m. at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, 1300 Locust St., cultural organizations will be onsite, hosting activities, tours and demonstrations that will share American history in exciting ways. Indigenous Peoples Weekend at MOAR – Celebrate Native American history and culture during the Museum of the American Revolution’s annual Indigenous Peoples Weekend celebration. It will include traditional Native American dance performances, hands-on demonstrations and other special activities for all ages. The Museum will be joined by members of the Delaware Tribe of Indians, who will perform traditional Lenape social dances on the Museum’s outdoor plaza. Dance performances will take place daily at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and are free and open to the public.

Turkey Day Tailgate – From 8 a.m. to noon at Lincoln Financial Field, Philly PR Girl is hosting the ninth annual Turkey Day Tailgate benefiting North Light Community Center before the Eagles take on the Cleveland Browns. Ticket-holders will gather at a designated spot in the Lincoln Financial Field parking lots (exact location to be announced closer to the event date) to enjoy a Thanksgiving-themed menu, crafted seasonal cocktails, tailgating games, face painting, raffle prizes and signed memorabilia, a photo booth and more. Chervinsky visits for the first installment of the 2024-25 Read the Revolution Speaker Series. Chervinsky, who is executive director of the George Washington Presidential Library at Mount Vernon, will give a hybrid lecture and discussion on presidential history inspired by her latest book Making the Presidency: John Adams and the Precedents That Forged the Republic

Congressman Evans pop-up office hours – From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the office of Congressman Dwight Evans will hold pop-up office hours at the office of state Rep. Elizabeth Fiedler, 2400 S. 9th St., to help constituents with federal services. Evans’ staff can also help with federal services and concerns at his office at 1310 Point Breeze Ave. During Evans’ first seven years in Congress, his office has helped to return to or save more than $41 million for Philadelphians from federal agencies such as the IRS, Social Security Administration and Department of Veterans Affairs. Evans’ offices also help constituents with other federal concerns such as U.S. Postal Service issues and immigration or passport issues.

History Explorer Day Camp – From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Museum of the American Revolution. This full day, drop-off/pickup camp is for kids ages 7-12 and will be run by museum staff. The theme of this day camp, “Revolution, The Game,” is a take on live action roleplay games. Kids are invited to create their own character to play as and navigate the Revolutionary War as a Continental soldier, a British soldier – or even a spy. Using resources from and around the museum, along with maps, replica objects, missions, puzzles and more, participants will explore how their choices could affect the outcome of the game and history itself.
