Not Just Jazz Goes Country – From 5-8 p.m. at FDR Park Boathouse, featuring Jason Jeffries and the Talltrees, live music, line dancing, mechanical bull, food vendors. Free to attend. 

August 16

Crayfish Party – Form 6-9 p.m. at the American Swedish Historical Museum at FDR Park, enjoy a buffet of crayfish and Swedish meatballs, along side potatoes, cheese pie, cucumber and beet salads, desserts and a glass of aquavit, all outside under a decorated tent. $60 for ASHM and SACC Philadelphia members and $70 for non-members. August 17

Hooray for Play – From 9:30-11:30 a.m., a special day at Anna C. Verna Playground at FDR Park, celebrating its recognition as Philadelphia’s “Best Playground.” Kids and playground enthusiasts of all ages are invited to enjoy free treats, arts activities, a field games pop-up hosted by Kidokinetics. Feeling inspired by the recent Olympic games? Put those skills through a test of sports-inspired exercises and challenges. Try out new activities while also learning the basics of sports like football, soccer and tee-ball.  

August 17

Vegandale – At the Navy Yard, a diverse and growing list of food, beverage and lifestyle vendors from around the world, promising attendees an opportunity to try the best and newest in vegan products. In particular, the Philadelphia edition is set to showcase both local and vendors from around the world, offering an opportunity for attendees to try dishes and products not readily available elsewhere. August 19

Tiki & Tacos Night – Once a year, Southwark (701 S. 4th St.) hosts Tiki & Tacos night, where Chef Chris D’Ambro curates a unique selection of tacos and variety of sides, while the bartenders whip up classic Tiki drinks. No reservations required.

August 20

Tomato Hullabaloo – at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. at River Twice, 1601 E. Passyunk Ave. Guests will gather at River Twice’s communal table to celebrate the end of summer with a seven-course menu featuring all things tomato. The dinner will feature tomatoes from several different local farms as well as different heirloom varieties, all while showcasing the versatility of the seasonal fruit. Guests can expect to experience a variety of different applications and textures of fresh, preserved and fermented tomatoes throughout the evening. Reservations cost $125 per person. There will be an optional beverage pairing available as well. Reservations can be made via Resy.

August 20

Pressed Flower Workshop – From 6-7:30 p.m. at the Pop Up Garden, 1438 South St. In this workshop, you will learn all about the age-old art of pressing and preserving flowers. Foliage selection, pressing techniques and how to arrange and design your own work bundled with composition and style. All supplies needed are included in the $30 ticket price. This garden serves alcohol so a valid, physical state-issued ID is required to enter. Anyone under 21 is welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. National History Day Philly Workshop – at 4:30 p.m. at 1300 Locust St., learn about National History Day, from what it is, how the program runs, and how to implement it in your classroom. Discover how you and your students can get involved for 2025. NHD Philly is free, and open to all 6-12 grade students in Philadelphia. Join in-person or online. Back to School Extravaganza – At Smith Playground, 2100 S. 24th St., giveaways, food, games and onsite hairdressers. DJ appearance by Yaszy B. There will be a modeling show, field games, barbers, beauticians, food vendors and free school supplies. Time TBD.

Eddie Griffin – At 8 p.m. at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, comedian-turned-actor Eddie Griffin will bring his stand-up comedy tour to the Live! Event Center. Griffin is known for his comedic roles in the films “Norbit,” “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo,” “Scary Movie 3” and “Scary Movie 5”. Getting Creative with Jennifer Blaine – At 8 p.m. at Mister John’s Music, 761 S. 8th St., Philly Fringe favorite Jennifer Blaine, known for her characters and transformational solo shows, is on a mission to boost your creativity. Through topical stand-up, interactive fun and coaching, she partners with the audience to keep this show funny and touching throughout. Tickets $25. Visit www.jenniferblaine.com.

September 28

Drink Beer Day – Two sessions (1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.) at Philadelphia’s Historic 23rd Street Armory. The event focuses on celebrating Pennsylvania-based beer companies and beyond. Goers will have their pick of one of two curated sessions featuring pours from PA’s top breweries, while sharing some of the best beers, beverages, eats and more. October 4

Kountry Wayne – At 8 p.m. at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, comedian and social media star Kountry Wayne is bringing his “King of Hearts” tour to the Live! Event Center. Wayne’s original sketches draw viewers daily across Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube and feature cameos from celebrities like Ludacris, Mike Epps, Charlamagne the God and Lamar Odom. October 13

Turkey Day Tailgate – From 8 a.m. to noon at Lincoln Financial Field, Philly PR Girl is hosting the ninth annual Turkey Day Tailgate benefiting North Light Community Center before the Eagles take on the Cleveland Browns. Ticket-holders will gather at a designated spot in the Lincoln Financial Field parking lots (exact location to be announced closer to the event date) to enjoy a Thanksgiving-themed menu, crafted seasonal cocktails, tailgating games, face painting, raffle prizes and signed memorabilia, a photo booth and more. Guests are encouraged to bring a canned good to support the charitable efforts of Turkey Day Tailgate. Tickets can be purchased at TDT24.eventbrite.com. General admission tickets are $68. The event is 21-plus unless accompanied by an adult.

Billy Gardell – At 8 p.m. at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, stand-up comedian and actor Billy Gardell will bring an evening of comedy and storytelling to the Live! Event Center. Gardell is known for his starring role as Bob Wheeler in the CBS sitcom Bob Hearts Abishola and Officer Mike Biggs in the long-running CBS hit Mike & Molly.
