Free Movie Night at Smith Playground – A free movie night featuring Men in Black at Smith Playground, 2100 S. 24th St. Games and food start at 6 p.m. Movie begins at 8 p.m.

July 27

Smorgasbeer – 6-9 p.m. American Swedish Historical Museum, in FDR Park. Regional and international beers alongside Swedish-inspired eats. Trivia, lawn games, a traditional Swedish “tipsrunda,” or quiz walk through the museum. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. A discounted designated driver price of $15 is also available. August 3

Family Field Day at FDR Park – From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at FDR Park, join Fairmount Park Conservancy for a free Family Field Day featuring youth sports activities for all ages, giveaways, food trucks, DJ, face painting, balloon artist, free ice cream and more. Sports open to all include baseball, softball, soccer, football and girls rugby. The event is free, but registration is recommended: RSVP at https://fairmountpark.ticketleap.com/family-field-day-fdr-park/details. The Family Field Day will also provide information highlighting the FDR Park Plan, which features athletic fields and courts interspersed with nature trails, woodlands, meadows and creeks.

August 9

Steve Weiss Mallet Festival – Concert at 7 p.m. at Settlement Music School. Featuring Christos Rafilides, Valarie Nuranjo, Morgan Wallbridge, Oliver Mayman, Tony Miceli, Behn, Gillece and Matthew Coley. For tickets visit bit.ly/weiss2024.

August 17

Vegandale – At the Navy Yard, a diverse and growing list of food, beverage and lifestyle vendors from around the world, promising attendees an opportunity to try the best and newest in vegan products. In particular, the Philadelphia edition is set to showcase both local and vendors from around the world, offering an opportunity for attendees to try dishes and products not readily available elsewhere. The festival brings a blend of music, food and art. Tickets can be purchased from vegandalefest.com 

August 24

Back to School Extravaganza – At Smith Playground, 2100 S. 24th St., giveaways, food, games and onsite hairdressers. DJ appearance by Yaszy B. There will be a modeling show, field games, barbers, beauticians, food vendors and free school supplies. Time TBD.

September 14

Eddie Griffin – At 8 p.m. at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, comedian-turned-actor Eddie Griffin will bring his stand-up comedy tour to the Live! Event Center. Griffin is known for his comedic roles in the films “Norbit,” “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo,” “Scary Movie 3” and “Scary Movie 5”. October 4

Kountry Wayne – At 8 p.m. at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, comedian and social media star Kountry Wayne is bringing his “King of Hearts” tour to the Live! Event Center. Wayne’s original sketches draw viewers daily across Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube and feature cameos from celebrities like Ludacris, Mike Epps, Charlamagne the God and Lamar Odom. October 13

Turkey Day Tailgate – From 8 a.m. to noon at Lincoln Financial Field, Philly PR Girl is hosting the ninth annual Turkey Day Tailgate benefiting North Light Community Center before the Eagles take on the Cleveland Browns. Ticket-holders will gather at a designated spot in the Lincoln Financial Field parking lots (exact location to be announced closer to the event date) to enjoy a Thanksgiving-themed menu, crafted seasonal cocktails, tailgating games, face painting, raffle prizes and signed memorabilia, a photo booth and more. Guests are encouraged to bring a canned good to support the charitable efforts of Turkey Day Tailgate. Tickets can be purchased at TDT24.eventbrite.com. General admission tickets are $68. The event is 21-plus unless accompanied by an adult.

Billy Gardell – At 8 p.m. at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, stand-up comedian and actor Billy Gardell will bring an evening of comedy and storytelling to the Live! Event Center. Gardell is known for his starring role as Bob Wheeler in the CBS sitcom Bob Hearts Abishola and Officer Mike Biggs in the long-running CBS hit Mike & Molly.
