Americans are more selective

As the American people see more advertisements in the media promoting the Made in the USA label, sales of American-made products have been growing. For several years, Americans have become more selective of what they purchase at small and large stores and on the internet. People are looking at labels and speaking up in support of American made. This is great because more products with American-made labels are being circulated and it is encouraging more businesses to expand in America.

The fact that more people want to support American businesses has been helping to keep Americans employed and able to earn a living to support themselves and their families. It also means American-made businesses are able to circulate more of their products as the inventory of American-made products moves off of store shelves.

In recent years, businesses that supply both large stores and local stores are reporting that they have been requesting more American-made products from their local and national merchandisers. This has been helping businesses expand their product lines in America to compete with foreign imports. All of this is happening because America’s consumers are showing their support for American workers, America’s economy and America’s future.

We all know it is still difficult to find American-made products in most stores, however, every time an American-made or assembled product is sold in the USA, we see more light at the end of the tunnel and more employment opportunities for American workers.

Thanks for spreading the word about the Buy American Made Campaign to your family and friends. Your participation is appreciated. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome. Email them to Michael@AmericanWorkersRadio.com.

Buying this milkshake a worthy cause

As a lifelong resident of the East Passyunk Avenue neighborhood, I was delighted to read Mark Zimmaro’s report on the newest item on the menu at P’unk Burger on the 1800 block (“Get your Girl Scout cookie milkshakes at P’unk Burger,” Feb. 5). These milkshakes will be sold to support a very special Girl Scout program to encourage female business ownership during March aka Women’s History Month.

Thanks to Zimmaro, I learned that the owner of P’unk Burger is a female entrepreneur named Marlo Dilks. She was quoted as having a family tradition of buying Girl Scout cookies.

Coincidentally, at the Singing Fountain, I recently came upon a male and female couple selling Girl Scout cookies in advance of Girl Scout Day on March 12. Was sorry I didn’t have any cash on me to buy them.

So it was fun to read that P’unk Burger, which usually serves burgers, fries and shakes, will be offering seven Girl Scout cookie and vegan-flavored milkshakes until the end of March. The owner is doing this in special honor of her seven daughters.

Of course, as the mother of a hard-working daughter, I was especially impressed by Dilks’ purpose of encouraging the empowerment of female leaders and business owners. Am so glad there are so many female-owned and managed businesses on our great Avenue.

So brava to businesswoman Marlo Dilks for offering this special treat on her menu to support and encourage more women to “break the glass ceiling and achieve their dreams.”
