• Kutztown University conferred degrees for more than 1,200 students for the 2026 spring semester. Local graduates and their majors are Victor Nicholas Astuto (Finance), Brendan C. Blanco (Accounting), Neila B. Desulme (Special Education – PreK-12/Elementary Education PreK-4), Namir A. Drake (Entrepreneurship), Theresa Catherine Hencek (Master of Education, Art Education), Colin P. Kelly (Criminal Justice), Sarah E. King (Special Education – Visual Impairment Elementary Education PreK-4, Summa Cum Laude), Matthew Carlin Ott (Cinema, TV, Media Production, Cum Laude), Brendan P. Sweeney (Finance, Magna Cum Laude), Matthew Nicholas Weinberg (Master of Business Administration) and Ray C. Wells (Management).

• Nearly 1,900 students were named to the University of Scranton’s dean’s list for the 2026 spring semester. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better to make the dean’s list.

Local members of the dean’s list and their majors are Kaitlyn M. Sonnie (sophomore, criminal justice), Kira E. Marino (senior, biology), Samantha R. Sonnie (senior, journalism and electronic media), Jenna M. Gontz (sophomore, nursing), Margaret M. Phillips (sophomore, public health), Aneliese M. Ewerth (junior, communication sciences and disorders), Amelia R. Pizzica (junior, occupational therapy), Iris Sanchez (junior, health administration), Keri L. Gontz (senior, nursing), Nicole Lynn McLaughlin (senior, health administration) and Christopher L. Zampirri (sophomore, accounting).

Sharon Sajan participated in the Pennsylvania Academy of Audiology’s Lobby Day at the Pennsylvania Capitol in Harrisburg. Faculty and students in the Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg Doctor of Audiology Program met with Pennsylvania senators and House members to advocate for legislation that strengthens hearing healthcare, including HB 80 (Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact), HB 1670 (expanded hearing aid coverage) and modernization of the audiology scope of practice to align Pennsylvania law with current Au.D. education and training. ••
