• City Councilman Mike Driscoll is sponsoring Tacony Town Watch’s National Night Out from 3-7 p.m. at Roosevelt Playground, 6455 Walker St. The event is usually hosted at Russo Park, but renovations – including a multi-purpose turf field for St. Hubert – are underway. There will be giveaways, including bookbags with school supplies, along with free haircuts, live entertainment by the Greater Kensington String Band and appearances by small business vendors, food vendors, food trucks, city agencies and local organizations. There will be a ceremony at 4:30 p.m. to retire the playground’s tattered American flag and raise a new one, provided by state Rep. Jared Solomon. Mayor Cherelle Parker will be in attendance. A representative from American Legion William D. Oxley Post 133 and a U.S. Air Force Officer will be present to perform the ceremony.

• The 15th Police District National Night Out will take place from 6-8 p.m. in the parking lot of the ShopRite at 5597 Tulip St. There will be entertainment, food, refreshments, giveaways and information tables. For more information, contact Greg Bucceroni at 215-MU6-1459 or Gregory.Bucceroni@phila.gov

• National Night Out for the 2nd and 7th police districts will take place in the Fox Chase Elementary School yard, 500 Rhawn St., from 6-8 p.m., with a bicycle ride at 5 p.m. All children participating in the bicycle ride will be entered in a drawing for a new bike. There will be a DJ, food, face painting and games. Timmy Kelly will sing God Bless America. Gov. Josh Shapiro is expected to make an appearance at 6:30. For more information, call the office of Rep. Sean Dougherty at 215-331-2600.
