End ‘fast fashion’

Fast fashion is fueling a waste crisis, and it’s time we take action. Every year, millions of tons of clothing end up in landfills, polluting our environment and contributing to climate change. As members of PennPIRG, we believe it’s time to say: Our Waste Is Out of Fashion.

Our campaign is focused on raising awareness about the environmental impact of fast fashion and promoting sustainable alternatives. We are urging students and community members to rethink their shopping habits, support secondhand and ethical brands, and push for policies that hold major clothing retailers accountable for their waste.

Temple University has a unique opportunity to lead the way in sustainability. By promoting clothing swaps, responsible recycling and better consumer choices, we can make a real difference. We invite students and faculty to join us in reducing waste and advocating for a more sustainable future.

Stop raiding recycle bins

Why is this city allowing thieves to steal aluminum cans from my recycle bin? Those recyclables are supposed to go to the city to pay our bills. If I was a cop, I would arrest every one of these people and fine them a thousand dollars. I cannot believe the city lets these people do this.

Ban the death penalty

When you think of civilized countries that you might visit, do you think of Germany, England, France and Italy or do you think of Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and China? The first group is growing in number and represents 70% of the countries in the world that have banned the death penalty. It has been proven that the death penalty does not lower homicide rates and that many people have been wrongly convicted. Yet on April 11, South Carolina executed Mikal Mahdi, its fifth inmate in less than eight months and the second by firing squad. This is the 12th execution in the U.S. this year. After watching Mahdi cry and groan for almost a minute, his public defender Davis Weiss said, “This horrifying act belongs in the darkest chapters of history, not in a civilized society.” Here we are in America in 2025 trying to figure out the best way to kill people. Isn’t it time for the U.S. to join the more civilized group and evolve past this inhumane and immoral form of frontier justice?

Dems want compliant voters

Since my new friend from Lawncrest, Patricia R., has called me out by name, I will once again answer with another decisive banging of the gavel. Her response was expected. She either totally missed my point, or as has always been the case with her fellow “demo-cults,” she did not respond to the main issues of November’s election that America voted on because she/they can’t. And we all know how that turned out.

One can only assume, since there has never been any demo-cult response to those issues that I always lay out, that she and other Democrat voters are OK with trans-dudes parading around their daughter and granddaughter’s bathrooms and locker rooms with their equipment hanging out. Or being fine and dandy with the open border disaster (of course until they show up in their neighborhoods, kinda like the “welcoming buffoons” from Martha’s Vineyard). Of course we all know that overwhelmingly, any sound-thinking American ain’t OK with all that stuff. The crushing results in November spoke more than volumes.

But where the rubber meets the road is how Demo politicians will not speak out publicly and go against what the big dogs of the party say will be their policies, no matter how much they are not OK with them. And the same goes here in the NE Times. Apparently a lot of Patricia’s teammates would rather eat cheese than publicly go against the many flawed, bizarre and incredulous Democrat positions I have always listed. Is that what it takes to acquire power? Keep silent? Yep. That’s sad, pathetic, laughable and cowardice. Who woulda thunk John Fetterman would become the poster boy for seeking the truth in his own party’s lost ways? I wish there were many more like him — in both parties.

And Patricia, if you think that border bill had any redeeming value, even though it was laughably a wee bit too late and totally flawed, and that the dimwit who was in the WH left Donald and America a strong economy, well, you need to go back some place and get all that rewired. And regarding good ol’ unelected Elon coming out of the bullpen, kinda reminds one of that unelected Soros fellow trying to make a difference in the game. And was Kamala elected for her run after Joe got rightfully benched?

I don’t know for sure how Trump and the tariffs will work out. I am optimistic and trust him with this as well as his trying to cut the shameful waste and corruption of both parties. Time will tell, so chill. But you and others won’t give things time because of “blind hate.” In the meantime make sure you peek into a mirror now and then. You will see just the kind of voter your party’s leaders want — a compliant constituent who would be extremely upset if the granddaughter you love came home very upset from an interview for a job she really wants and is much qualified for, but didn’t get (thanks to DEI). But they know you’ll still vote for them, the people who put these policies in place. So sad. God help America.
