The ladies at BellaLisa Hair Studio, 3530 Cottman Ave., celebrated Jane’s birthday two days early when she came in for an appointment with stylist Terry Ackerman. They sang Happy Birthday and presented her with cupcakes.

Jane Hackett was born in 1922. She grew up in Drexel Hill, and graduated in 1940 from the old Holy Child Academy, a girls elementary and high school in Sharon Hill.

Jane later moved to Mayfair and has been in the neighborhood ever since. She met a neighborhood man, Lew Mooney, and they married in 1947. Lew passed away in 2002.

Jane worked as a secretary at a Center City insurance company, and she and her husband raised six children – daughters Mickey and Terry and sons Bill, Joe, John and Rich. The family has gone on to include 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, with another on the way.

Jane also worked as a bookkeeper for Dr. Joe Szal and at Gallagher’s gift shop on Cottman Avenue.

Over the years, she was active with the Holy Terrors, St. Matthew Parish and Cub Scouts.

Today, she likes to read, do puzzles, watch some TV and follow the Phillies, Flyers and Super Bowl-champion Eagles. ••
