Platinum recording artist Bianca Ryan will be performing live at Friday’s Salute to Independence Semiquincentennial Parade.
Ryan was 11 and living in Mayfair when she won the first season of America’s Got Talent in 2006. She earned more than 30 million votes. She later appeared on America’s Got Talent: The Champions. AGT judge Simon Cowell has said, “Bianca Ryan is one of the best singers I’ve ever heard in my entire life.”
Ryan will be part of a parade that will begin at noon at 5th and Chestnut streets, goes around City Hall and ends at Broad and Chestnut.
Last year, she was a featured performer at the 6abc Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade and performed at the Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest and tree lighting.
As for other career highlights, she has starred on Broadway and headlined shows in Las Vegas and internationally. Her hit Christmas song Why Couldn’t It Be Christmas Everyday? charts No. 1 every year throughout Europe. She is recording a new album, hosting a new music cooking show, authoring a new book about her journey in the industry and staying in touch with fans across all social media platforms.
On Friday, Ryan will be part of a star-studded lineup that will include 40-plus marching bands, 19 elaborate floats and all 52 Miss America state and territory titleholders.
The Sons of the American Revolution will participate, joining fellow patriotic, historical, military and civic organizations in celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary. SAR members and color guards will march through the historic streets of Philadelphia, honoring the legacy of the Revolutionary generation.
There will be “Cheer Zones” at 6th and Market streets, the 1100 block of Market St. and the northeast side of City Hall. There, parade watchers will receive giveaways. Wawa will distribute free iced teas and lemonade at 6th and Market. Also at 6th and Market, there will be free Herr’s chips, Krimpets and Sparkling Ice beverages.
The parade will be broadcast on NBC10, with hosts Bill Henley and Erin Coleman, with Sheila Watko reporting from the parade route. The parade will also be broadcast on C-SPAN 2.
