Dr. Eric Goodlev, an Associate Professor in the Supportive Oncology and Palliative Care Program at Fox Chase Cancer Center, was recently named a Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
“I am honored to join the ranks of so many colleagues, mentors and leaders in our field as a fellow of the academy,” Goodlev said. “As a proud member of AAHPM, I am excited to continue contributing to the organization’s work, making sure that all patients with a serious illness have access to the best possible palliative care.”
AAHPM seeks to provide access to the highest-quality hospice and palliative care for all individuals with serious illnesses as well as their caregivers and families. Established in 1988, the organization focuses on activities that provide education, training, networking, resources and advocacy for professionals specializing in hospice and palliative medicine.
Fellowship in AAHPM is one of the highest honors the organization bestows. Members who become fellows have devoted their professional careers to practicing hospice and palliative medicine. They must have been a member of AAHPM for at least seven years and be able to demonstrate expertise in the field as well as a commitment to scholarship to be recognized as a fellow.
Goodlev, who specializes in oncology palliative medicine, serves as chairman of AAHPM’s Quality and Practice Standards Committee and serves as Associate Editor-in-Chief for AAHPM Quarterly, a periodical published by the organization. He received the 2024 Emerging Leader Award from AAHPM and was recognized as an AAHPM Leadership Scholar in 2023.
Goodlev came to Fox Chase in August 2024 after practicing inpatient and outpatient palliative medicine at Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital, where he served as the founding Program Director for the hospital’s Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program.
Prior to that, he served as Associate Hospice Medical Director at Einstein Montgomery Hospice, Attending Physician at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Thomas Jefferson University and Academic Hospitalist Physician at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
Goodlev earned his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College, followed by an internship and residency in internal medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. After several years in practice at Mount Sinai, he completed a clinical fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. ••
