U.S. Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-2nd dist.) sent a letter to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Acting FEMA Administrator Cameron Hamilton and Acting Small Business Administrator Everett Woodel, urging them to ensure federal funds are available in the wake of the crash of the medical jet on Cottman Avenue last Friday. In the letter, Boyle urged the federal agencies to work swiftly to support the crash victims, their families and the affected residents and businesses on the ground.

“As of now, seven lives have been lost, and twenty-four others have been injured, several of whom remain hospitalized. The homes and businesses that have been impacted by this tragedy span several neighborhoods, and my constituents are looking to every level of government to support them as the cleanup and repair efforts proceed,” Boyle wrote. “This is a priority not only for me but for the entire city of Philadelphia, and I ask that you work closely with me, along with state and local officials, to ensure that we leave no stone unturned in this recovery effort.”

“The tragic incident that occurred last Friday evening shocked every one of us,” said Mayor Cherelle Parker. “Northeast Philadelphia is a resilient community and I could not be more proud of the residents, first responders, and civil servants for their tireless work. We have to continue to work together to repair and restore the neighborhoods of the Great Northeast which have been impacted. This is why I join Congressman Boyle in asking our federal partners for targeted federal financial assistance for infrastructure and economic revitalization to ensure a smooth and expedient recovery period following the aircraft incident. I’d like to thank Congressman Boyle for his leadership in seeking this funding and I look forward to ongoing collaboration with our local, state, and federal partners as we move forward from this crisis.” ••
