The Greater Philadelphia region’s three main Teamsters organizations – Teamsters Local 830, Joint Council 53 and the Pennsylvania Conference of Teamsters – officially announced their unanimous endorsements of Pat Dugan in the May 20 Democratic primary for district attorney.

The announcement was made Feb. 22 during an event at the Ashburner Inn.

Dugan, former president judge of Municipal Court and a Far Northeast resident, is challenging District Attorney Larry Krasner in the primary.

“Pat Dugan is from unions and for unions, always,” said Bill Hamilton, president of the Pennsylvania Conference of Teamsters and vice president of the Eastern Region. “Pat was born into a Teamsters family and has never forgotten how labor unions provided a good life for him and his family and made his dream of a highly successful career in the judicial system a reality. Philadelphia needs Pat Dugan for district attorney, a decorated military veteran and respected former judge known for his tough but fair approach to maintaining law and order in Philadelphia. The Teamsters will do everything in our power to ensure that Pat Dugan is our next district attorney.”

Dugan served on Municipal Court for 17 years and founded the city’s Veterans Court.

“My grandparents were both lifelong members of the Teamsters union, so the endorsements of Local 830, Joint Council 53 and the Pennsylvania Conference of Teamsters is an incredibly proud moment for me and my family. I’m sure my grandparents are smiling down from heaven. Many of my family members were or continue to be immersed in the union movement. I know firsthand how unions provided economic security for my extended family and gave us all an appreciation for working families and a respect for the dignity of work. Rest assured that, as D.A., the Teamsters and all Philadelphia unions will have a fierce advocate in the office.” ••
