Businessmen K.C. Fordham and Chris Caporale – who own two Northeast car washes – donated grand opening weekend profits from their latest venture to families affected by the Jan. 31 airplane crash on Cottman Avenue, near Roosevelt Mall.

Luv Laundry opened recently at 113 W. Wyoming Ave. (near Rising Sun Avenue) in Feltonville. State Sen. Sharif Street, state Rep. Danilo Burgos and a representative of the 24th Police District attended the ribbon cutting. There was food, music and a photo booth.

The Laundromat is located in a property that was once a Rite Aid and before that an Acme.

In all, there are 152 state-of-the-art Huebsch washers and dryers. There are several ways to pay and earn loyalty points.

The parking lot has new lighting and room for 30 vehicles.

Vending machines sell detergent, bleach and fabric softener. There is a children’s center with books, two bathrooms, free Wi-Fi and plenty of seating and folding areas. There are also six skill games.

Fordham and Caporale also made donations to the community when they opened their local car washes, Sud’s Factory, at 7930 Roosevelt Blvd. and 7885 Oxford Ave. The recipients were the St. Hubert cheerleading team and Vita Walker, a Fox Chase resident and wife of police Lt. James Walker, who died in April 2020 of the coronavirus. ••
