Overnight fire at Grandview Plaza
On Thursday, Oct. 10, the Bucks County 911 Center received a call that heavy black smoke was coming from the roof of the Andalusia Bar and Grill at 971 Bristol Pike in Bensalem.
Bensalem Police, Bensalem EMS and members of the Bensalem Volunteer Fire Department responded to the location and found heavy smoke and fire engulfing the central portion of Grandview Plaza. A second alarm was activated, and fire departments from Croydon, Penndel and Feasterville assisted with controlling the blaze around 5 a.m.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the fire started in the Andalusia Bar and Grill and spread to the surrounding businesses. The fire caused significant damage to the Andalusia Bar and Grill, including a partial roof collapse. Eight-to-10 other businesses in the complex received the fire, smoke and water damage. No injuries to civilians or fire personnel were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
CALEA accreditation assessor visits Bensalem Police
The Bensalem Township Police Department completed the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies on-site assessment recently. It is one of 14 departments in Pennsylvania to hold this prestigious certification, along with over 1,000 other departments worldwide.

Retail theft
On Oct. 4, a dark-colored SUV with a possible New Jersey tag arrived at Giant, 176 W. Street Road, Feasterville, and a black female exited the passenger side. The suspect stole four boxes of king crab legs valued at $133.
The female suspect was wearing a blue tank top under a white or beige hoodie with a Hello Kitty/seashell design on the back, “skeleton bone” pants and pink crocs over white socks. She returned to the vehicle and a black male driver helped her place the items in the trunk. They then drove to the business next door and the driver stole items outside in front of the entrance.

Theft/access device fraud
A suspect, described as a white male with a white beard, is responsible for using a stolen credit card to purchase items totaling $1,134.98 at a Best Buy store in South Philadelphia. The card was stolen from a healthcare worker who was working in Lower Southampton Township. The suspect was observed operating a small white SUV.
