Government officials including state Rep. Elizabeth Fiedler attended the celebration to personally thank James for her service. Fiedler presented James with a certificate of recognition highlighting her contributions and unwavering dedication to the Southwark community.

“For decades, Ms. James made sure that no matter what students may face at home, thousands of students could go to school each day knowing they will have enough to eat,” Fiedler said. “It’s people like Ms. James that make this city thrive through her hard work and compassion and dedication to the community. Her absence will be felt by all at Southwark.”

Despite her retirement James plans to continue to give back to her community by delivering food to seniors and neighbors.
