The foundation was created in memory of Sandy Rollman, who passed away from advanced ovarian cancer in May 2000. The foundation was started by Rollman’s sister Adriana Way and Rollman’s nurse Robin Cohen, as a way to keep Sandy’s memory alive while trying to prevent other women from having to endure the same pain as she did. It has raised more than $6 million though fundraising and events like the Sandy Sprint.

“Every individual who comes to us brings a story of strength,” said Cohen, who is the CEO and co-founder. “Our mission is to turn that strength into action and create a lasting change. We’re excited to bring the Sandy Sprint to a new location this year, the Philadelphia Navy Yard. The historic waterfront will provide an incredible backdrop for women and their families to come together for a day of action, hope and connection.”

The Sandy Sprint will feature the 5K run/walk, the national anthem performed by Vanya Sax, a musical performance by La Salle College High School Band, a survivor ceremony and a race warm-up led by former Philadelphia Eagle Carlos Bradley, Rose Covalesky and Kimberly Zellers.

Participants can pre-register at https://secure.qgiv.com/event/ss2025/register/form/registration. Runners and walkers are encouraged to create an online fundraising page to reach fundraising goals and help spread the word about the event. Registration fees are $40 for adults, $30 for children under 12 and $55 for those bringing a canine companion.

The opening ceremony will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K starts at 8:30 a.m.
