The market is now open for South Philly residents as a new grocery brand has expanded to South Broad Street.
Met Fresh, an established New York metropolitan grocery brand, opened its doors at the former Walgreens at the intersection of Broad Street and Snyder Avenue.
A formal grand opening and ribbon cutting was held on Aug. 6, welcoming local residents into the 13,000-square foot shopping hub.
Some of the store’s amenities include national brands, local products, a deli and a pharmacy.
The South Philly location represents Associated Food Holdings’ first Pennsylvania location although it isn’t particularly new to the area. It opened an Associated Supermarket in nearby Pennsauken on Westfield Avenue in 2015. The group recently opened a store at Point Pleasant Beach on July 24.
Associated Supermarket Group is the largest group of independently operated supermarkets based in the New York metropolitan area. It provide services to a network of about 250 independent grocery retail stores, many located in New York City.
In a statement from the company, Met Fresh said “it is committed to providing South Philadelphia residents with a fresh, convenient, and affordable neighborhood grocery shopping experience. The new store reflects the company’s ongoing investment in local communities by offering quality products, outstanding customer service, and a welcoming environment for families and shoppers throughout the neighborhood.” ••
