The scholarship organization BLOCS last week brought donors and school leadership together for the first BLOCStoberfest, held at Yards Brewing Company, at 5th and Spring Garden streets.
The evening featured food, drinks and comments from CEO Rob Delany.
Other BLOCStoberfest events will take place across the state.
In the most recent fiscal year, which ended on June 30, BLOCS – Pennsylvania’s leading scholarship organization dedicated to the state Educational Improvement Tax Credit and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit and the sole administrator of the Economically Disadvantaged Schools program – raised more than $246 million for need-based scholarships, according to Delany.
BLOCS, founded in 1980, is providing scholarships to more than 43,000 students statewide in Pre-K through 12th grade this school year.
BLOCS, Delany said, has partnerships with private schools in 65 of the state’s 67 counties.
Future events include Breakfast with BLOCS in Harrisburg, with elected officials invited, and a Toast to Tax Credits cocktail reception, featuring donors and lawmakers.
