NAACP hosting annual banquet at Parx

“We’re All In” is the title of the 73rd annual Freedom Fund Banquet, hosted by the NAACP of Bucks County on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 6 p.m. at Parx Racing, 2999 Street Road, Bensalem. 

The guest speaker will be Communications Workers of America president Claude Cummings Jr. He was elected by union delegates in 2023 and became the first African American leader of the CWA union.

Prior to his leadership position, Cummings served on the CWA executive board since 2007 and was elected vice president of District 6 in 2011, representing workers across five states. He played a key role in advancing CWA’s efforts in human rights, women’s rights, immigration and voter protection. He also holds leadership roles with the NAACP, serving as 1st vice president of the Houston Branch and 2nd vice president of the Texas State Conference. He was also active in the A. Philip Randolph Institute and the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists. 

The NAACP will recognize several people who have given back to the community through extraordinary acts of service and dedication to the preservation of civil rights for everyone.
