Sweet sounds of Musicians on Call

What an uplifting story in the July 1 paper about a very talented piano player who performed recently at Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation (“Musicians on Call brings welcome sound to patients,” July 1, p. 1).

Reporter Mark Zimmaro interviewed skilled musician Adam Weiner about his voluntary performances as part of an expanding healing program initiated by non-commercial station WXPN with its Musicians on Call program. Weiner discussed his recent piano concert for patients and caregivers followed by private visits with his guitar. I found the whole article heartwarming.

By now everyone should know the healing power of music. Thanks to Mark Zimmaro for this detailed report on how this unique program has been going on for over 20 years. Also thanks to Zimmaro for including information on how it will be funded in October with WXPN’s Run for Musicians on Call. Information can be accessed at ex.pn/5krun. Bravo to Zimmaro and the South Philly Review for reporting all this information.
