It couldn’t have worked out any better.

Jimmy Dillon, who starred at Holy Ghost Prep before graduating in 1996 and later went on play basketball at Notre Dame and professionally in Europe, is the new coach of the Archbishop Ryan High School basketball program.

“I am honored and excited for the opportunity to be the next varsity girls basketball coach at Archbishop Ryan,” Dillon said. “I look forward to building a culture that our players, families, school and community can be proud of. It’s a privilege to work with the incredible young women at Archbishop Ryan — past, present and future. Thank you to the administration and athletic department for this tremendous opportunity. Let’s go AR!”

Dillon, a former state senator, runs Hoops 24-7 Basketball Academy.

At Ryan, he’ll coach his two daughters, Reese, who is slated to graduate in 2027, and Aubrey, who will be in the class of 2029.

Dillon inherits a team that struggled last year, winning two games in the incredibly tough Catholic League. The Ragdolls’ wins were over St. Hubert and Little Flower.
