The Far Northeast Small Business Association formed last summer, but expanding into Lower Bucks County and Eastern Montgomery County has led to a name change – the Tri County Small Business Alliance.
The business group – led by president Joe Kennedy, vice president Missy Murray, treasurer D.J. Jones and secretary Patrick O’Brien – made the announcement during a recent event at the Ashburner Inn.
Among those on hand were state Rep. Sean Dougherty and representatives of various businesses, along with the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, the city Department of Commerce and Northeast Victim Service.
The newly named business alliance will, of course, support small businesses. But it has two other objectives.
One is to form a foundation to support young entrepreneurs. The other is to create a political action committee, with donations being accepted anonymously.
The alliance has a number of committees and a calendar of upcoming events at venues such as Club Ciao, FOP Lodge 5 and Paddy Whacks.
These events will include networking and a legislative summit and will touch on issues such as immigration advocacy and business corridors.
City Controller Christy Brady will keynote a financial literacy leadership forum on April 24 at Community College of Philadelphia Northeast Regional Center.
