The Israeli Film Festival of Philadelphia has announced the lineup for its 29th season and a new primary screening location at the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History.
Taking place March 22-30, the Israeli Film Festival of Philadelphia is a celebration of Israeli culture, which aims to enrich the American vision of Israeli culture and society through film. Each year, a slate of feature films and documentaries are selected to provide a diverse and impartial reflection of Israel. The program includes award-winning feature films, dramas, comedies and documentaries that have received critical acclaim in Israel and abroad.
“After serving on the IFF committee for more than 10 years, I’m excited to lead the 29th season of the Israeli film festival,” said Karnit Biran, the festival’s executive director. “Under our new leadership, the festival will run its programs year-round to commemorate events and dates significant to our community, such as Oct. 7, International Holocaust Remembrance Day and International Women’s Day. The addition of new members of our community to our leadership team brings with it many exciting ideas for incorporating technology, social media and new events into festival programming.”
Screenings at the Weitzman will feature Q&A sessions with directors Shemi Zarhin and Erez Tadmor and two receptions with Lilah Events (part of the CookNSolo family, known for its restaurant Zahav). There will also be screenings at Narberth Theater and Gratz College.
“As Philadelphia’s hub for Jewish culture, The Weitzman is a natural home for the Israeli Film Festival,” said Dan Samuels, Director of Public Programs at the Weitzman. “We’re excited about this new partnership and cannot wait to host the annual festival.”
