Ashley Redfearn, CEO of American Paradigm Schools, recently joined the Tesla Science Foundation for its 13th annual Tesla Spirit Conference and Award ceremony, where she hosted a discussion on Tesla as an Inspiration to Develop a Culture of Science in Educational Settings. Joining Redfearn at the conference were Todd Smith, assistant principal of Tacony Academy Charter School; Mohamed Hassan, Director of Data and Digital Programs for American Paradigm Schools; and Eden Joliffe, from Wild Things Preserve.

As the executive director and director of education for TSF, Redfearn led and moderated the conversation. APS is a long-standing partner of TSF, with all four of its schools involved in the “Introducing Tesla to Schools in America” project, educating students around the world on the knowledge of Nikola Tesla and his work through art, music and science. APS’ Tacony Academy was the first school in the U.S. to utilize the Tesla curriculum.

“Advancing Tesla’s legacy through education and innovation remains at the forefront of our work at both APS and TSF. Incorporating his forward-thinking ideas into modern education and inspiring the next generation of scholars and innovators is deeply rewarding,” Redfearn said. “Hosting this year’s panel discussion on Tesla as an Inspiration to Develop a Culture of Science in Educational Settings further exemplifies APS’ commitment to S.T.E.A.M. education in all of our schools, and I was proud to be a part of this year’s conference in New York City.”
