Mark Mroz, community relations officer in the 2nd Police District, provided a crime update at last week’s 2nd Police District Advisory Council meeting.
There was a murder at 12:38 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, on the 2100 block of Tyson Ave. A 29-year-old man, sitting in his BMW, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the left side of his neck and chest. Police transported him to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Mroz described the murder as an “execution,” as a car drove up and an occupant fired 39 shots, hitting the man 13 times. The victim’s girlfriend, sitting in the passenger seat, was not injured.
Mroz also mentioned that a man shot and killed a skunk on the 700 block of Ripley St. The skunk was going after the man and his dog.
A man fired a shot at his dad near Summerdale and Cheltenham avenues and was later arrested when police saw him coming out of a store. Fels High School was locked down until an arrest was made.
Mroz said he issued a $300 fine to an illegal vendor on the 6700 block of Castor Ave. He added a ticket for a vehicle parked on the sidewalk.
The 2nd PDAC will meet again on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 6 p.m. at the Philadelphia Protestant Home, 6401 Martins Mill Road.
