Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park, 8401 Roosevelt Blvd., held a pumpkin cook-off to celebrate Halloween.

Staff members created pumpkin-inspired dishes, which were judged by a three-person panel consisting of human resources manager Koiya McFadden, resident Janet Graham and Northeast Times editor Tom Waring.

The winning entry, pumpkin bars, was made by Jessica Clarke, who works in social services. The runner-up dish, pumpkin cheesecake cookie bite, was prepared by Megan Boran, the director of recreation.

Clarke and Boran received gift bags for their efforts.

There was also a pumpkin-decorating contest. Megan McLaughlin and Ashlee Berrios, of personal care, won both first and third place. Second place went to Melita Clark, of the health center. Clark credited her 4-year-old granddaughter, Serenity Foster, with creating a pumpkin resembling Oscar the Grouch.

The event featured plenty of food, a gift basket raffle and Halloween music, including songs such as Ghostbusters, Thriller, The Addams Family and Somebody’s Watching Me. ••
